What is 07-06-05?
The idea of 070605 is to invite the Norwegian people to participate in the creation of a new liberation – this time from a situation, not from another nation.
The campaign was launched on the 7th of June 2000. The 7th of June is the date of national liberation from Sweden, and the 7th of June 2005 (070605) is the 100th year anniversary.
In Norway – as in most modern countries – the spirit of the times is that a lot of people experience an increasing strain for time. Not only do people experience the time squeeze; the distinction between work and leisure gradually fades away. There is a strong demand for high quality leisure time – which might also mean expensive leisure time. We need to earn more to buy new technical devices and clothes that can tell who we are. The result is increased consumption and more stress. A global threat against the environment and our health.
"070605" questions this development. We notice a national and global drive towards individualisation. This is also a drive for an individual creation of a good life. Is the modern or post-modern stress situation consistent of good life? Is it possible to unite a good life with a good environment? The project offers no answers, but suggests that we should spend the next five years – until June 7th 2005 – thinking about this and adjusting our lives accordingly. Every year, on June 7th, we make a happening, an event that will help us see how things are developing.
June 7th 2000 was the first of these happenings. More precisely on this day, the whole nation was invited to take a break, a time-out between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. The invitation was adverted in different national newspapers, transmitted through radio and television and through our website. And people actually did take a break! It was very successful! In towns around Norway, and even in Oslo, the capitol, people joined the campaign and showed support by taking a break from daily life and stress, sat down in a park, had a good, slow meal with fiends and colleagues. The approaches were all unique, but with "07-06-05" as the common theme. Through these events we managed to spread the ideological message of "070605". From that day we knew that this was the right approach to start the discussion "How to unite a good life with a good environment?" and to attract attention and raise awareness of how we make use of our time.
We also made a happening on the 7th of December 2000, exactly 6 months later. On this date we also invited the whole nation to take a timeout. This time, a timeout from the extreme buying pressure before Christmas. This time our message was: "Leave the shops, forget the Christmas-presents for a while, take a deep breath, meet some nice people and relax." This time we advertised the message through newspapers, and through happenings in many cities and towns in Norway.
We want individuals, organisations and business to participate and decide what the campaign "070605 – Time for change" shall mean to them. Therefore, we have not yet published any leaflets or any traditional campaign-material. If you want to know more about "07-06-05", please send a mail to Elisabet Molander, elisabet@070605.com

Ideological platform for 07-06-05
07-06-05 is a change project. It is based on the fact that people’s desires, companies’ progress, and the planet’s environmental needs are not in conflict, but in agreement. People and companies need therefore neither be threatened nor forced to change behavior to preserve the environment. It is quite sufficient that we act on our own dreams of decent lives and good cultures.
